pubs and publicans in Rutherglen Empty
PostSubject: pubs and publicans in Rutherglen    pubs and publicans in Rutherglen EmptyMon Nov 19, 2012 11:25 am

my mother told me that her great grandfather was a publican in rutherglen , his name was John Crouth , he is listed on the scottish post office directories 1828 till 1912 Crouth, John, spirit merchant, 2
Bouverie st; ho. 81 Farie st rutherglen , we are not sure if one of these is his home address or the pub address but we did find his will on scotlands people and it states his accounts to the brewery , being paid in full family folklore tells of him having 2 pubs in the rutherglen area in the mid to late 1800s

this is a great site and as im new to it i hope someone can shed some light on this for me
