Does anybody know when the Glasgow licensing laws first started.

Why did pubs originally close at 2.30 and open again at 5pm?

Why did they close originally at 10pm or earlier?

Why were certain parts of Glasgow designated "Dry" areas? ie Dennistoun, Cathcart, etc.
