Help needed on the pubs! Empty
PostSubject: Help needed on the pubs!   Help needed on the pubs! EmptyFri Mar 16, 2012 3:43 pm

Hi everyone
I have found a few ancestor's that had pubs in Glasgow, Thomas Pincock and his wife Elizabeth Dick had one on Findlay street, Samuel Pincock had one on James street, the majority of the Pincock family worked in the glass and bottle works in Glasgow so doubt they had a shortage in there glasses!
Im needing help on Sydney Guymer if anyone knows anything about him? He may have had his pub in Govan but only a guess! I found on this site a photo of him taken in 1958 so he was still a publican then, also if anyone knows the name of the pub that was on 6 Findlay street around the mid 1800's that would be a great help also.

Findlay Street later became Stow Street in Cowcaddens. The 1860 and 1894 GPO Directories show the licensed premises at number 6 as being run by a man called William McMillan.

Thank you , strange thou as on his will in 1882 he leaves the pub to his wife who in the 1891 census still has it? I'm confused now lol

Perhaps the Pincocks owned the pub, but McMillan was the licensee who actually ran it? Might that be a possibility?
